About Teresa
Hello and welcome to my website! I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois with over 30 years of experience providing therapy.
I see therapy as a collaborative effort and practice from an approach that draws from interpersonal, multicultural, feminist, and psychodynamic theoretical orientations. I am warm, caring, and gentle in my interactions with others. I feel passionately about social justice issues, and I believe this equally informs my therapy practice and way of being.
I value community service and have volunteered with community organizations for decades. Most recently, I have served as president of the board of RACES, our local rape crisis center. I am 40-hour sexual assault crisis intervention trained and currently provide the training module on vicarious trauma.
I believe in the scientist-practitioner model of psychology, which speaks to the value of both the art and the science of psychotherapy. In addition to my primary work as a therapist, I also enjoy writing, teaching, and presenting workshops. Please visit the Publications and Media sections of my website for more information about my work, which has focused extensively on Asian American mental health, identity development, and media images and stereotypes.
